Core Philosophy

At Camp Wartburg, we let our 7 core philosophies guide us in everything we do.

  1. We will strive to be intentionally Christ-centered. (1 Corinthians 10:31)
  2. We will strive to be immersed in nature. (Job 12:7-10)
  3. We will strive to serve others in the way we lead. (Philippians 2:3-4)
  4. We will strive to take ownership of our mission. (Romans 12:11)
  5. We will strive to take initiative within our abilities. (Ezra 10:4)
  6. We will strive to be flexible in all circumstances. (Proverb 16:9)
  7. We will strive to have fun. (Psalm 126:2)

Additionally, we follow the teaching of Micah 6:8 which instructs us to act justly, give mercy and walk humbly with others.

About Camp Wartburg

Camp Discipline Policy

At camp, we address behavioral and discipline problems as outlined in Matthew 14: 15-16: “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.”

Our small group leaders are instructed to meet with the camper one-on-one in a public area or within view of others and address the concern with them. It is stressed that small group leaders explain why the rule that was broken was put in place, so that the camper understands the situation. Depending on the severity, the first time is just a warning and to help the camper make better decisions. If discipline problems continue, or are severe, a call home is made by the Camp Manager.
